ChemInform Abstract

Both the title compounds have been prepared by annealing stoichiometric mixtures of the elements at 1270 K for 1 h (heating and cooling rates are given). Sr3GaSb3 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/n. The structure contains distorted GaSb4 tetrahedra which are connected by common corners to yield chains with groups of four tetrahedra as the repeating unit. Sr3InP3 crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pnma. In this structure, infinite chains are formed by corner-sharing, distorted InP4 tetrahedra.
