ChemInform Abstract: Synthesis of Cortexolone Phosphate.

ChemInform Abstract

Cortexolone phosphate (IIIa) and its dehydro derivative (IIIb) are synthesized from 17-hydroxyprogesterone (Ia). Microbial oxidation of (III) yields hydrocortisone and prednisolone respectively. (IIIa) is acetylated to give (IV). The disodium salts of (III) are water-soluble forms of the steroids allowing a remarkable increase of steroid concentration in the culture medium. (IR-, UV-data).
