ChemInform Abstract: (Ph4P)2(Sb2I8): Weak Interactions Between Phenyl Groups of the Cation and Antimony Atoms of the Anion.

ChemInform Abstract

The title complex is obtained in quantitative yield by reaction of PPh₄I with SbI₃ in MeCN at 81 °C. It crystallizes in the space group C2/c with Z = 8. The unusual feature of the structure is the existence of a cation as the donor and an anion as the acceptor since η2-bonded phenyl rings of the cations complete the coordination polyhedron around Sb(III).
