Abstract

The methylhydrazones (I) and (IV) containing cyclic amines have been prepared by procedures known from the literature.

The methylhydrazones (I) and (IV) containing cyclic amines have been prepared by procedures known from the literature. Reaction of (I) and (IV) with Hg(II)EDTA yields the corresponding lactams (II) and (V). The compounds (II) cyclize in the presence of perchloric acid to form the triazinium salts (III), whereas (V) is hydrolyzed to give the ketolactam (VI).
