ChemInform Abstract: Synthesis of 4(5)-Alkylimidazolinones-2.
Abstract
In mixtures of the bromoketones (I) and (II), the bromomethyl compounds (I) react selectively with amines such as piperidine (III) or trimethylamine (V) to give the corresponding aminomethyl ketones (IV) and (VI) respectively.
ChemInform Abstract
In mixtures of the bromoketones (I) and (II), the bromomethyl compounds (I) react selectively with amines such as piperidine (III) or trimethylamine (V) to give the corresponding aminomethyl ketones (IV) and (VI) respectively. Cyclization of these aminomethyl ketones with urea (VII) yields the imidazolinones (VIII). As a result of prolonged reaction, the 3-bromo ketone (IIb) is also transformed into the piperidine derivative (IX) which is cyclized to form the imidazolinone (X).
