Abstract

Pb(OAc)4 oxidation of the naphthol (Ia) gives the acetoxy derivative (Ib) and the diacetoxynaphthalenone (II) as main products.

ChemInform Abstract

Pb(OAc)4 oxidation of the naphthol (Ia) gives the acetoxy derivative (Ib) and the diacetoxynaphthalenone (II) as main products. The products (VI)-(VIII) resulting from oxidation of (Ic) show an unusual concentration dependence. Oxidation of (Ib) or (Id) yields (IX) or (X) as main products.
