Abstract
The hydroxycoumarins (I) are coupled with the aryldiazonium chlorides (II) to yield title compounds of type (III) (a series of substituents R′ to R4 is tabulated but the corresponding positions in the ring system are not indicated).

The hydroxycoumarins (I) are coupled with the aryldiazonium chlorides (II) to yield title compounds of type (III) (a series of substituents R′ to R4 is tabulated but the corresponding positions in the ring system are not indicated). The highly coloured arylazocoumarins can be applied as disperse dyes to polyester and polyamide fibers.
