ChemInform Abstract

Pyridinium hexachlorocerate(IV) (I) reacts with lithium organyls in a 1:2 molar ratio with formation of (II). Afurther mole of RLi effects a reduction to (III). The amidocerium(III) complexes (IV) are formed with an excess of RLi. Derivatives of type (II) are also formed in reactions of quarternary ammonium salts such as (V), followed by a reduction to Li3[CeC16]. An excess of RLi effects the formation of (VI). The Compounds are characterized by elemental analysis, the hydrolysis and deuterolysis products, magnetic moments, and IR spectra.
