Abstract
The ketones (V) are synthesized Starting from the o-or p-toluenes (I) and cyclodehydrated to give the title compounds (VI) which in turn can be obtained directly from the morpholinostyrenes (IV) on treatment with refluxing NaOAc/ AcOH-buffer.

The ketones (V) are synthesized Starting from the o-or p-toluenes (I) and cyclodehydrated to give the title compounds (VI) which in turn can be obtained directly from the morpholinostyrenes (IV) on treatment with refluxing NaOAc/ AcOH-buffer. The intermediates (II) and (V) are useful key compounds for the synthesis of various types of heterocyclic compounds.
