First published: October 7, 1986

Abstract

RbzSiAsz, which has been found as a byproduct in the course of RbAs synthesis, can be directly synthesized from the elements within 5 h at 925 K. The transparent red needle-shaped crystals belong to the space group Ibam with Z=4.

ChemInform Abstract

RbzSiAsz, which has been found as a byproduct in the course of RbAs synthesis, can be directly synthesized from the elements within 5 h at 925 K. The transparent red needle-shaped crystals belong to the space group Ibam with Z=4. The structure consists of L"[SiAs2]2′ polyanionic chains of edge-connected tetrahedra (isostructural and isoelectronic to SiS2) formed in a distorted cubic closed packed As arrangement with Rb occupying octahedral holes.
