ChemInform Abstract

The title compounds have been prepared by reaction of K or Rb with Y in supercritical NH3 [P(NH3) = 6kbar, z 500 K, 22 d]. In (I) the amide ions are cubic close packed; Y and Keach occupy isolated chains of edge-sharing anion octahedra. In RbY(NH2)4, Rb+ and NH; ions together form a distorted cubic close packing; this can be interpreted as the transition to the pero vskite -like atomic arrangement found in cesium amidometallates of the rare earth metals. The force constants of the N - Hbond are calculated.
