Zahlreiche Olefine werden durch Cetyltrimethylammonium-permanganat in cis-Diole übergeführt.

Zahlreiche Olefine werden durch Cetyltrimethylammonium-permanganat in cis-Diole übergeführt. Stilben (V) ergibt unter Spaltung Benzaldehyd (VI), wie auch l ,2-Diphenylethandiol (VII). Diphenylacetylen (X) wird unter diesen Bedingungen zu Benzil (XI) oxidiert.
