Abstract

A simulation of the measured coherent excitation profile (CEP) of the resonance coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) of ZnPc in a polymer film is carried out by applying the transform theory, which relates the scattering amplitudes to the recorded absorption spectrum. Since the CEP was recorded by varying only the pump frequency at a fixed Stokes frequency (not scanning both at a fixed difference of pump and Stokes beams as usual), the transform relations could not be applied directly but had to be modified. The current approach is especially well suited for the analysis and the identification of systems exhibiting a large number of vibrational degrees of freedom, such as macromolecules, solids, and even complex biological agents such as bacterial spores.
