Abstract

en

The effect of pulsed magnetic fields up to 15 T on the decay times of KC1:Sn AT luminescence is investigated at 4.2 K. The decay consists of two exponential components. The decay time of the fast component decreases from 3.3 × 10−3 s at H = 0 to 2 × 10−5 s at H = 15 T. Magnetic field dependences of the decay times are discussed in terms of a model with a strong interaction between the excited electronic states of Sn2+ centres and Eg vibrations.
