Abstract

A multiscale approach describing a turbulent flame as a gasdynamic discontinuity [1] on each scale is proposed. The methodology becomes attractive if simulations on individual scales are implemented in a very efficient way. Simulations in a 2D rectangular box with an artificial turbulence field exploiting a robust phase-field/level-set method fit this purpose. (© 2012 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
