ABSTRACT

In this article, a compact ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna with microstrip feed having dual notch band characteristic is proposed. The antenna has two U-shaped stubs on the radiating patch. The proposed antenna can reduce the interference between UWB and WiMAX/WLAN. The propose antenna has a small size of 26 × 27 mm2. The proposed antenna achieved an operating bandwidth (VSWR < 2) from 2.6 GHz to 10.8 GHz, with one frequency notched band at 3–3.9 GHz (WiMAX) and other at 5–5.9 GHz (WLAN). The proposed antenna exhibits Omnidirectional radiation pattern except notch bands, make it suitable for UWB applications. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 59:792–797, 2017
