Abstract

A novel low-cost element is proposed for S-band multifunction phased-array radars: a compact stacked-patch configuration is fed with a strip-line hybrid-ring network providing the dual polarizations for weather-surveillance applications.Full-wave simulations in a phased-periodic array environment show promising features, in terms of reduced cross-polarization, high isolation between the input ports, scanning capability, and regular radiation patterns. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
