Abstract

The analysis of lossy nonreciprocal transmission line (LNTL in short), which is the most general case in transmission line problems, is presented in this article. By modifying the expression of input impedance, we get a novel graphical tool called omnipotent Smith chart (OSC) for solving LNTL problems. Including all the previous introduced Smith Charts such as the standard Smith chart, the generalized Smith chart for lossless nonreciprocal lines, the generalized Smith chart for lossy reciprocal lines, etc., OSC is omnipotent for different kinds of transmission lines. An OSC can be easily generated using Matlab or Java for applications. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
