Abstract

In wavelength division multiplexing networks it is necessary to buffer incoming packets to resolve the contentions in any network node. We optimized the performance of an all-optical ring-laser gain-clamped erbium-doped fiber amplifier working in a delay line to store packets for a time as long as 2 ms with power penalty as small as 0.3 dB. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
