Abstract

This paper presents a simple approach for designing two-dimensional electromagnetic band gap structures (EBGs). The approach is based on designing a planar band pass filter at a desired center frequency. A simple modification is introduced to the well known design steps of the filter. This modification allows for specifying the high impedance property of the structure, as well as its stop band, using a circuit simulator. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
