Abstract

An internal printed diversity antenna mounted on a PCMCIA network card for broadband operation is presented. The antenna has a low profile of 6 mm to the network card and a small protruded length of 3 mm. The diversity antenna comprises two back-to-back dipoles, and each dipole is further comprised of a longer and a shorter radiating arms. The two radiating arms have complementary shape such as to make the antenna tend to be a self-complementary structure, thus leading to a wide operating bandwidth of ∼4.6 GHz (approximately 2.9 ∼ 7.5 GHz). © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
