Unexpected sulfuration reaction of 1-substituted azulenes
Abstract
Azulenes reacted unexpectedly and readily with thionyl chloride to give sulfonic acid chlorides and bisthioethers. The sulfonic acids but not the thioethers have antibacterial activity.
