Abstract

Antibodies to pancreatic islet cells and insulin were studied in the Genetic Analysis Workshop 5 (GAW5) families, as indicators of an autoimmune component of pathogenesis. The rationale for these studies is summarized briefly, and references to the laboratory methods used are provided.
