ChemInform Abstract

Efficient and selective monoalkylation of 2-perfluoroalkyl-1-iodoethanes (I) with malonates [→(III), 6 examples] is achieved using bases such as K2CO3 or NaH in THF. Scope and limitations of this methodology are established.
