ChemInform Abstract

A preparatively simple access to N-ethylamino acids and some of their derivatives using hexafluoroacetone as protecting and activating reagent is described. Thus, the hexafluoroacetone-protected N-ethylamino acid derivatives (III) are obtained in high yields and can be directly transformed without the need of an additional activation step with various nucleophiles into the corresponding carboxylic acid derivatives like (IV) and (VI).
