ChemInform Abstract

The first synthesis of radialene derivative (IV) by cyclopentamerization of acetylene units is reported. Reaction of (IV) with lithium metal in THF gives the tetralithium salt of (IV), a novel ten-centre, fourteen-electron π-system.
