ChemInform Abstract

The synthesis of two fragments (S)-(I) and (S)-(IV) of the macrolide epothilone A using enzymatic kinetic resolution as key steps is described. The lipase resolution gives highly enantiomerically enriched vinyl carbinols bearing the key C-15 stereocenter.
