ChemInform Abstract

Single crystals of the title compound are grown hydrothermally from an aqueous solution of BaCO3, VCl3, H3PO4, and guanidinium carbonate (453 K, 24 h; autoclave). Ba3V2(HPO4)6 crystallizes in the trigonal space group Requation imagec with Z = 6. The structure consists of a three-dimensional network of corner-sharing VIIIO6 octahedra and HPO4 tetrahedra. The Ba2+ cations are in 12-fold coordination.
