ChemInform Abstract

Single crystals of the title compound are prepared by solid state reaction of SnO2, MoO3, and freshly reduced Mo (sealed Mo crucible, 2073 K, 6 h). Sn4.4Mo24O38 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/c with Z = 2. The structure contains infinite chains of centrosymmetric Mo10 double-octahedra and centrosymmetric trioctahedral Mo14 clusters.
