Rb9+x[M6N15] and Cs9+x[M6N15] with M: Mo, W and 0 < x < 1 are prepared by reaction of Mo or W metal powder with mixtures of RbNH2 (CsNH2) and RbN3 (CsN3) (autoclave, 650 °C, 5 d). The isotypic compounds crystallize in space group Rc with Z = 6. The metal centers of MN4 tetrahedra are connected to six-membered rings in chair-conformation via N atoms. The rings are linked by axial N atoms to form a three-dimensional network. Nine alkali metal ions are located within vacancies of the anionic partial structure and the residual x alkali metal ions center the six-membered rings.
