ChemInform Abstract

A convenient building block approach for the construction of the F-O-G peptido aryl ether ring system of ristocetin or teicoplanin molecules is demonstrated. A ruthenium-promoted diaryl ether formation followed by cycloamidation are the key steps of this synthesis. The key building block (II) is readily prepared by standard Evans asymmetric azidation technology and is quite stable.
