ChemInform Abstract

The title compounds (III), (V), and (VI) are prepared via an addition—elimination process using the corresponding sulfoxides (I) and (IV) and the selenols, generated from trimethylsilyl selenides (II) by the treatment of methanol. The reaction of (IV) with phenyl trimethylsilyl selenide (IIa) affords the trans isomer (V) and the cis isomer (VI) in a 9:1 ratio.
