ChemInform Abstract

A novel silicon-mediated carbonylative carbotricyclization of enediynes (I) and (VII), promoted by rhodium catalysts, is described, which provides fused 5,7,5-tricyclic systems in moderate to good yields. The reaction tolerates ether, ester, hydroxyl, and sulfonamide groups. The optimization of reaction conditions is presented and a reaction mechanism is proposed.
