ChemInform Abstract

The title compound, prepared by arc melting of the elements, crystallizes in the tetragonal space group P4/mmm with Z = 1. CeCr2Si2C adopts a CeMg2Si2-based structure (a variant of the ThCr2Si2 type), although the parent compound CeCr2Si2 does not exist. CeCr2Si2C follows the Curie—Weiss law in the range 300—600 K and has an effective magnetic moment of μeff = 2.83 μB.
