Single crystals of the title compounds are prepared by arc melting of the elements followed by annealing at 870 K (evacuated quartz tube, 2 weeks). NdRu2Si2 and NdRh2(Si,Ge)2 crystallize in space group I4/mmm and have the CsGa2Al2 type structure.
