ChemInform Abstract

Pink crystals of [C(NH2)3]5 [Nd(CO3)4(H2O)]×2H2O are obtained from the reaction of Nd(III) with guanidinium carbonate in aqueous solution at pH 10. The compound crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pna21 with Z = 4 (single crystal XRD). The central Nd atom of the [Nd(CO3)4(H2O)]5- anion is bound to nine O atoms of four bidentate carbonate groups and one coordinated water molecule in a distorted monocapped antiprism. The anions are interconnected by strong hydrogen bonds to the water molecules and to the guanidinium cations.
