ChemInform Abstract

Starting from the known optically active ester (I) the title intermediate (V) in the synthesis of the promising drug ER-40133 for hypertension and congestive heart failure is prepared. One major key step is the reduction in the first step in which LiAlH(O-tBu)3 reduces selectively the trans diastereomer of (I) to an aminal which is then further transformed to (IV).
