ChemInform Abstract

The synthesis of two representatives of a new family of aryl-substituted monophosphinoferrocenes (MOPF) is presented. These ligands possess promising catalytic activity in the asymmetric hydrosilylation—oxidation of styrene, as the corresponding α-hydroxyethylbenzene (II) is obtained in up to 70% optical purity. It is proposed that by simply varying the aryl substituent, high enantioselectivities can be achieved.
