2-Pyrazolines (IV) and 2-isoxazolines (VII) are prepared by the reaction of aromatic aldehyde hydrazones, e.g. (II), and aryl aldoximes, e.g. (V), in the presence of chloramine-T, which also functions as a reagent for the aromatization of the former.
