ChemInform Abstract

The new title compound is prepared by solid state reaction of Bi2O3, CoO, and (NH4)2HPO4 (1. 300—500 °C, 10 h; 2. 700 °C, 24 h; 3. 850 °C, 2 d). BiCoPO5 is isostructural with BiNiPO5 (powder XRD). The structure consists of a complex three-dimensional assembly of Co2O10 dimers linked by PO4 tetrahedra. The Bi3+ cations are located within large channels of this framework.
