ChemInform Abstract

The use of NaBrO3 and sodium dithionite in aq. EtOAc is particularly effective for the fast and mild deprotection of benzylated and benzylidene acetal protected carbohydrates. A variety of other protecting functionalities such as acetyl, chloroacetyl, benzoyl, pivaloyl, tosyl, t-butyldimethylsilyl, trityl, and isopropylidene groups remain unaffected under these conditions.
