ChemInform Abstract

As part of a program connected with the synthesis of a hexasaccharide derived from the capsular polysaccharide of group B type III streptococcus, the conversion of thioglycoside (I) of Neu5Ac to the corresponding N-diacetyl compound (IV) is described. This transformation dramatically improves the glycosyl donor properties.
