ChemInform Abstract

The Ti-catalyzed epoxidation of the optically active hydroperoxy homoallylic alcohols (I) and the oxidation of the hydroxy homoallylic alcohols (VI) with 2,3-dimethyl-3-hydroperoxy-2-butanol afford in each case an erythro diol (II) or its enantiomer (VII) in high diastereoselectivity.
