ChemInform Abstract

Copper(II) and base-promoted coupling of phenols with arylboronic acids provides an efficient synthesis of diaryl ethers. The reaction of the phenolic amino acids proceeds without racemization, thus providing an advanced intermediate (XIb) in a synthesis of L-thyroxine.
