The title triazole (I) is utilized for the synthesis of several new poly-substituted 2-trifluoromethyltriazolopyrimidine derivatives [cf. (III), (V), (VII), (IX)] via reactions with acrylonitrile derivatives or 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds, and of triazolotriazine derivatives (XI) via diazotation and coupling with active methylene compounds. The obtained trifluoromethylated heterocycles are of considerable interest owing to their potential pharmacological activity.
