ChemInform Abstract
An efficient method for the cleavage of acetals and ketals under mild and neutral conditions using LiCl/H2O in DMSO at elevated temperatures is reported. Aryl and α,β-unsaturated compounds cleave readily, diaryl and saturated educts remain unaffected.
