ChemInform Abstract
The novel zeolite, SSZ-42, is prepared using N-benzyl-1,4-diazabicyclo( 2.2.2)octane cation as template. The structure is solved from single crystal data from a very small crystal still containing two occluded template molecules per unit cell (as indicated by elemental analysis) and from refined powder XRD data of the calcined sample. SSZ-42 ( monoclinic, C2/m) is built-up from an undulating one-dimensional 12- membered channel system. The large adsorption capacity is due to large cages rather than to an intersecting channel system.
