The first synthesis of convolutamydine C (XIII) is described. Key steps are the Rh(II) perfluorobutyramide catalyzed cyclization of diazoamide (V) and the subsequent high yielding one-pot hydrolysis- decarboxylation-oxidation of oxoindoline-3-carboxylate (VIII).
