ChemInform Abstract

A modification of the Hantzsch thiazole synthesis is used for the preparation of C4 thiazolylmethyl phosphonium salts such as (IV) (4 examples). Condensation of these ylides with aldehydes, e.g. (V), affords the 2,4-disubstituted thiazoles (VI) and (VII) (some yields not given).
