The indole derivative (I) undergoes (4 + 2) cycloadditions with appropriate dienophiles to form functionalized carbazoles (III) and (V) endo and/or regioselectively. The analogous bis-silyl substituted educt (VII) gives also products (X) and (XI) of an ene-reaction.
